Ruth Levene & I are exhibiting some elements of A Field of Wheat at Bridport Art Centre from 22 April to 3 June. This is a joint show with Vanessa Reid and Chris Drury who have both undertaken arts projects with farmers through the Cape Farewell programme in collaboration with the Arts Development Company in Dorset.
The Preview is 6-8pm on Friday 21 April. We are offering a talk and discussion followed by a simple meal on Thursday 25 May at 6pm, booking is required as numbers are limited (with the gallery open until 6pm beforehand). This is hosted by Laura Williams. It would be great to see you at either of these events.
I’m also currently working on a residency at Exe Riverside Valley Park in Exeter with Gingko Projects, Exeter City Council, East Devon District Council, Environment Agency and Devon Wildlife Trust. I’m working on co-creating a long (several kilometres) orchard that forms a foraging corridor for insects and animals as well as a long term community resource & living sculpture. Development of the project includes a running performance (devised with Dr Tom Powell, Earth Systems Scientist), which explores our interdependent relationship with trees & Co2 and invites reflection and meditation on these relationships as we run or walk (let me know if you want to sign up for a run in the park..) and a portable Orchard Box which I’m creating in collaboration with Amy Shelton which will share some of the magic of orchards & pollinators with people in St Thomas & Exwick. This will lead up to a community planting event later in the year open to all.
Also have created a small book with Jo Salter celebrating five years of Fruit Routes at Loughborough University which is out this summer.
