VANITAS

Emerging from darkness… reminiscent of a 17th century Vanitas still life, the strong chiaroscuro of these images emphasizes the underlying structures of plants in all their forms – seed to leaf to blossom to fruit to eventual disintegration.
I’m attempting to expand my vision to include both the conventional view of beauty and the imperfect on equal terms – does the decaying form have value and interest equal to or more than than that of the perfect bloom…
