First Friday

First Fridays happen (surprise!) on the first Friday of every month, except January. First Fridays is a gathering place for artists or anyone interested in the arts, an opportunity to share food and talk. Each month, after lunch, there is an informal presentation of work in progress by one or two artists who may be local or from far away.

You can check out details of who will be speaking below, or through the events listing on Facebook.

You don’t need to let us know if you’re coming –  just bring some food to share. Only bring enough for a few people, otherwise we have far too much!

These events are held at Dartington Hall, but the precise venue may vary, so do check the calendar before coming.  All are welcome (any age). Most venues are wheelchair/buggy accessible.

Get directions to Dartington Hall. Most months we’ll meet in the Garden Room at Dartington Space, which is relatively easy to find. Park in the main car park at Dartington then walk DOWN the hill until you see the large blue SPACE sign. Walk down towards the buildings until you reach the end. We are upstairs.

Sometimes (check on Facebook) we hold First Friday in the Elmhirst Centre,  which is trickier to find. It’s situated in the far right corner of the Courtyard (and is ‘O’ on the map below). Cross from the car parks and go through the main archway into the Courtyard. The Great Hall is facing you, at the far end, and to the right of it is an entrance. From there you will find signs directing you to lunch.
