It is tempting to see ourselves not as participants in the natural world but observers as from afar. It is “just over there.” It is majestic or domesticated.
That makes too easy to accept the loss of habitats and the extinction of animals. Do we mourn them and move on – charge up our phone our IPads and get on that plane to somewhere – well more exciting?
I am more interested in direct personal intervention. My website chronicles activity and fascinations. Currently I am revisiting Sizewell B soon (hopefully not) to be the site of a new nuclear plant. Within 2 miles o f my door I take a keen interest. Meanwhile I am re-creating heathland in a landscape that used to be sheep walks.
Whilst nurturing the miniature worlds of moss and vetch the wild life returns……….
