There’s quite a bit happening at art.earth in the first week of May. It must be spring fever.

First Friday, 6 May

First Fridays (which began last month) start with an informal bring-something-to-share lunch followed by an artist talk / sharing of work. This month, the visiting artist is Polly Morgan (see below) who works with taxidermy and sculptural form. All are welcome, it’s not just for artists – so if you want to meet up with others who are interested in contemporary arts and ecology, then come along. Click for more  (In June, we’ll be offering an ‘open mic’ for local artists to talk about their current work – details to follow at art-earth.org.uk)

Polly Morgan guest artist 6 May

After the First Friday lunch, artist Polly Morgan will talk about her extraordinary contemporary taxidermy: stunning sculptural objects that revere and seem sometimes fearful of the animals and birds whose bodies she uses in her work. Click for more. We’d ask you please to book a slot for the afternoon session (it’s free) at https://art-earth.org.uk/morgan-may6/.

Dawn Quiet Walk 8 May

Join artist Tony Whitehead on a quiet dawn walk to experience first light over the Dartington Estate. During the walk we’ll allow plenty of time to sit and enjoy the sounds of the natural world at this extraordinarily special time of day and burgeoning time of year. In particular we’ll experience and get to know the diverse bird voices of the dawn chorus, and understand a little more about why birds sing. Click for more – booking (at £4 each) is essential. You’re welcome to bring a sound recorder.
