I’m an art.earth artist, and I am participating in (very last minute)  this August with An Lanntair, Stornoway & Sail Britain to investigate historical and cultural links between the Western Isles (Scotland) & West Penwith (Cornwall) where I have been making a body of work for the last few years.

I am interested in learning more of the role that the sea roads have played in connecting this landscape to other cultures on the Atlantic seaboard throughout Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age and the role played by these maritime connections in disseminating culture, language and traditions.

Work resulting from this residency will be shown at group exhibitions at An Lanntair, Stornoway and at Edinburgh College of Art.

Due to the last minute nature of being award the place, I haven’t secured any form of public funding towards the venture but have set up a crowdfunder  to try to raise funds for travel and costs associated with production of works – https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/muir-is-tir-land-sea-residency-stornoway – if you are interested yourself, or know anyone who might be, please do share. There are some opportunities to acquire works for well below the normal cost, including some from Suburban Herbarium and Tin-can Firmament.

Best wishes

William
