from Kate Walters:
I’m writing to you to let you know about a course I’m going to teach at a wonderful leafy venue in Devon, near Honiton https://artandwellbeing.co.uk/
we’re just making our new website… email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01404 45699 . Contact Us
The dates are 24th – 27th July 2020, with an optional extra day on the 28th for 1:1 ‘hollow bone’ sessions with me.
The centre is a verdant, leafy place with established trees and plants and attendant wild-life. We’ll have access to 15 acres of loveliness….and a large studio.
The focus will be on tuning into the beauty and wisdom of plants, trees; and the two and four-legged: birds and creatures.
We’ll look at the matrix which underpins all life, the interconnectedness of things, and ask how we can view our lives through this template.
Here is the text I’ve written which will go on the centre’s website…
Working with the wisdom of trees, plants and creatures: a creative shamanic course with Kate Walters.
July 24th – 27th, with optional 1:1 ‘hollow bone’ sessions with Kate on the 28th.
On this 4 day course you will be shown how to tune into the living spirits of trees, plants and the creatures which inhabit this beautiful place.
We’ll consider the meaning of the term habitat, what it means to be home; migration and changes we sometimes need to make in our lives.
We will ask the spirits of the ‘standing ones’ (trees) to help us see the high perspective relating to our creative processes, and we will ask plants to show us how to dance in our lives (even if the dance is an inner one, invisible to everyone else…)
You will be shown how to journey shamanically, how to find your power animal, and how to receive sacred instructions with your gaze.
We will work to improve drawing and painting skills, and also weave in words, music, the poetry of indigenous peoples, monotype, and mixed media.
Kate is a fully qualified teacher with 35 years’ experience; she has trained in classical shamanism and practiced it for 19 years.
All materials will be provided (including sketchbooks), and a delicious lunch and afternoon tea with cake will be provided.
The price of the course is £550.
B&B is available for £50 pppn at the Centre.
Venues for dinner will be found nearby….I’m guessing we’ll mostly travel to these together…
