Deadline: Friday 11 December 2020.

Fringe Arts Bath (FaB) is offering aspiring and emerging Curators the opportunity to devise and organise a project as part of FaB Festival, 21 May – 6 June 2021.

FaB’s annual visual art festival is a test-bed for new work, radical approaches, fresh and challenging concepts, a place for those who prefer to operate outside the gallery-based arts scene. FaB is really inclusive, everyone is welcome to apply, to take part, and to visit our exhibitions.

For 2021 we invite submissions to the following strands: Curated Exhibitions, Web-based Projects, Live Happenings and Events.

  • Curated Exhibitions: These will take place in one of our pop-up venues in Bath during FaB Festival 2021. Your concept or idea does not need to be fully formed yet, if selected we will help turn your idea into a call-out to Artists and form your exhibition.

  • Web-based Projects: We successfully turned FaB 2020 into an online festival, and for FaB’s Virtual Festival 2021 we will again be providing a platform to beam happenings out to the world via our website and social media channels. If you would like to deliver an experimental project challenging the convention of these platforms or develop an online showcase around a concept via an open call do get in touch.

  • Live Happenings and Events: We are interested in hearing from Art Collectives or Curators who feel they could contribute to one-off or a series of take-over events to take place during FaB festival in our pop-up venues. We are also looking for someone to help coordinate this strand.

Submit via email submissions@fringeartsbath.co.uk: in writing, via image, video or audio formats. All are welcome, with any level of experience: students, graduates, artists, local, national, international.

FaB will support you to develop and share your call-out and help you reach our broad network of artists. We provide a venue for your exhibition, some materials and equipment, web space, promotion, cover pre-agreed expenses, and offer an amazing team and festival to be part of.

You will actively promote your call-out to artists and the festival as a whole, and maintain regular contact with those who apply. You will produce written and/or visual content for your project’s web pages and social media, promoting all participating artists, events and performances. Each curator will work with their artists and the FaB team to install, maintain and remove exhibitions.

NOTE that Fringe Arts Bath operates on a voluntary basis and does not have a budget.
