from Steve Thorp at Unpsychology

This is a reminder to…consider contributing to our next edition. If you are interested, then get your essays, stories, poetry, artwork, music and videos (or a combination of these) in for our Other-than-Human edition. Here’s what we say about this in the submissions guidelines (available from HERE).

“Our theme for this issue is Other-Than-Human. We will explore the other-than-human world, its inhabitants and ecologies; and link this to the ecological and social crises we are facing. We are interested in anything that touches deeply into the themes of the human animal; the ecological mind; the ways humans connect with (or are disconnected from) the Earth and its inhabitants; activism and psychological stewardship; creative imaginings from within the non-human world and experience”.

The contexts for this call-out are numerous and inter-connecting:

Foremost amongst them is the Climate Emergency – an unprecedented challenge to the human and other-than-human world that underpins all our work in the Unpsychology community…

And others like:

…the truths and wisdoms that emerge from the Bateson’s Ecology of Mind…

…the deep ecological human-animal philosophies of David Abram…

…the Work that Reconnects activism of Joanna Macy…

…the animal-centric work of Zoomorphic magazine and similar publications…

…ecological Earth activism from indigenous communities and their allies…

…eco-feminism and eco-psychology intersections with the other-than human…

…animal rights and solidarity campaigns…

…food, politics, veganism and the emergence of Animal Rebellion…

…the Sixth Mass Extinction…

…the effects of climate breakdown on the other-than-human…

…the voices of trees, animals, oceans, rivers, mountains and the humans who love them…

…the psychological worlds of humans who identify as animal or other-than…

…or anything else that comes to mind…
