Richard Rochester

I am an Exeter based visual artist working across several strands. Much of my current work attempts to explore the limits of charcoal and other monochrome media and I also have a particular interest in the relationship between photography and drawing. I am also interested in seeking ways of creating landscapes and seascapes that have an immersive or experiential quality; I aim for viewers to feel drawn into the scene they are viewing by presenting images that have a balance of realistic representation and ambiguity. I am therefore particularly interested in presenting partial light situations or other images when not everything is immediately apparent.
