Ephemeral Nature

Ephemeral Nature

This project involved responding to the site (Trebah Garden, Mawnan Smith, Cornwall) and its materials whilst working with the processes of nature, time, change and decay. Stacey recorded the ‘natural’ events with still photography.

During a period of collecting seeds from various plants within Trebah, a series of temporary ‘seed drawings’ were made on paper. These ‘naturally’ occurring events were captured and further collaborations with the elements and plants were made. Working with nature in this way removes pre-determined outcomes and provides the opportunity for chance and the unexpected to be recorded.

Like nature, Stacey’s working method is fluid, evolving and never fixed; one activity leads to another.
